The Mini Padillac

The Mini Padillac is a shortened, redesigned version of Pyzel's Padillac, built as a step-up board for fast paddling into waves early while still fitting into curvier wave faces and late drops. The front half was reshaped with a pulled-in nose width and added nose rocker compared to the original Padillac, while the back half remains unchanged. It carries extra volume under the chest, hidden by a rolled deck curve and thinned rails. The rocker is a long, continuous curve, and the bottom contour uses a gentle vee with double concave running into a light flat vee through the fins and off the tail. It has a swallow tail. The board is set up with five fin boxes, allowing thruster, quad, or five-fin configurations. Pyzel recommends riding it about ½ to 1 inch wider and at least ⅜ inch thicker than a rider's usual daily-driver shortboard. Some riders use it as an everyday board rather than strictly as a step-up.
