The Modern Mid is a mid-length model positioned between a classic mid length and Roberts' high-performance Dreamcatcher shortboard. It has a forward wide point and curvy outline for paddling and glide, a nose that is wider but thinner than the Dreamcatcher's to reduce swing weight, tapered rails with hard tucked edges for sensitivity, and a single to double concave bottom with a rounded pintail. Rocker is low to moderate with a slight nose flip. The board uses a 5-box fin configuration, allowing it to be rigged as a single fin, single fin with side bites, thruster, twin fin, or bonzer variant. It is built for knee-high to overhead surf at beach, point, and reef breaks. Sizing runs from 5'6" to 7'6" in the standard chart. Shorter lengths (4"-8" over rider height) give a performance feel, while longer lengths (8"-12" over height) add glide and stability, suiting lighter, newer, or older surfers seeking easier paddling.
